THE TEN COMMANDMENTS

1. First and foremost: ALWAYS USE COMMON SENSE!
If I need to explain this, you are already breaking the rule. (Zing!)

2. The laws of physics still apply.
Yes, your OC is 'immortal' (that doesn't mean they can survive something like decapitation, per say), but they are still just a human being. Some things can be stretched for the sake of personification, but egregiously super-human traits are a big no-no.

3. Be accurate!!
Self-explanatory. DO. YOUR. RESEARCH. If you feel there is a serious (and I mean SERIOUS) problem with the way someone writes, privately bring it up with one of the mods, and let them sort it out.
That being said, Hetalia is not accurate. It is meant to be a light-hearted parody. This is not. Please try to keep the main series out as much as possible; it is simply not factual. And if you disagree, this is probably not the place for you, anyways.

4. About the language barrier...
For the sake of simplicity, you are fully allowed to ignore it altogether (unless you just like having the challenge of trying to explain your way around it). Pretend a swarm of babel fish wormed their way into everyone's ears. /shot

5. Time IS relevant.
If the time period is the early seventeen-hundreds, and your character is a settler in North America, are they going to be taking strolls to Asia? No. If you're replying to a thread and cannot provide a reasonable explanation for how and why your character is in another country, then please reconsider whether your post is being realistic or not.

6. This isn't Wikipedia.
On Tegs, we usually draw a picture, then give some bare facts in the comments below it. But that's not what this is about. If there are some facts or figures you'd like to add in, please do so in a note at the end of your post.

7. No God-modding.
Again, self explanatory. (I really don't know how god-modding could happen, though, since most conflicts in history have a clear victor.)

8. Think before you write.
If you are going to touch on sensitive topics, PLEASE be careful what you say. Take everyone's feelings into consideration. Especially with recent or ongoing events, it might be 'too soon' to be writing about it. In addition, if possible, please attempt to get into the mindset of the people you are representing. Apply cultural relativism!!

9. Don't feel obligated to make your posts long.
Of course, you want your initial post to be detailed, but I want everyone to feel free to be as brief or lengthy as they want for their replies.

10. Thou shall not kill.
No one is 'fair game' here. If you kill someone that is still obviously around to this day, that's decidedly breaking rule #3.
Coinciding with this, be aware of the lifespan of your character in regard to history. For example, the Jangali Movement/Republic of Gilan was only around for a couple of years, so would I be realistically be able to use him much? No. If you can provide a good explanation for why your OC would be alive outside of their official time frame, then by all means, do so. But please be reasonable, that's all I'm asking for.

------------

Thank you for reading, and I apologize for the lengthiness. I'm aware that some things here will be different than what we're used to on Tegs, but that's simply because writing and drawing are two different things. (Look on the bright side: there is no opportunity for crack here, so people won't have to complain about it.)

Any questions, comments, or concerns may be posted here.
